The Yak-15 was Russias first jet fighter. I tried to recreate it in 1:5 scale. I built the wings with a foam core, but I also created plans for ribbed wings.

Build

Foam cores cut with a hot wire:

All parts prepared:

Vertical stab put together without glue:

Fuselage without sheeting is built up quickly:

What takes time is the sheeting…

I made the horizontal stab removable, only to never remove it later…

First flight was still without canopy, bungee launched:

Later I installed gears which also worked well. She really wanted to take off early, so had to keep her down until up to speed to not directly stall her. Once in the air she was a nice flyer.
